This recipe was given to me years ago and has since been made countless times that it’s completely known by heart. It’s one of those fantastic never fail recipes that is always a crowd favourite and every time someone tries a piece, or two, they immediately ask for the recipe. Also have a bit of fun adding different flavours to this recipe - you can swirl in caramel, mix in white chocolate, sprinkle with pistachios before baking, ice with chocolate or peanut butter icing or simple sprinkle with icing sugar and serve with ice cream. I hope you enjoy this Classic Chocolate Brownie recipe as much as my family and friends do. x
Recipe
Preheat oven to 180°C, lightly butter and line a 20x20 baking tray with baking paper.
In a large mixing bowl, combine both sugars and whisk to combine. Add the butter, cocoa powder and vanilla essence to a medium sauce pan and gently melt over a low heat until smooth and combined. Carefully pour the chocolate mixture into the sugars and whisk to combine. Add the eggs in one at a time and whisk until smooth, before adding the plain flour and whisking/stirring with a wooden spoon or large whisk until everything is well combined and smooth.
Pour the brownie batter into your prepared tray and bake for around 25-30min or until a skewer inserted comes out just clean. Allow to cool in the tray for around 10min before turning out onto a cooling rack to cool slightly. Cut into generous squares, and serve.
