One of our absolute favourite things to do on a weekend is to cafe and gallery hop, not only is it a wonderful way to explore your city a little more it’s also the perfect way to discover new artists. If you’re after something to do this weekend in Auckland, I couldn’t think of anything more wonderful than having a little peek at the beautiful Sourced Exhibition at Silver Project Space (Whitespace) that is proudly sharing the work of Mareea Vegas, Ian Mcrae, Leon Rose, Laura Forest, Gary Baildon and Captured by Keryn – a few of her beautiful image were styled by the very talented Claire from One Lovely Day. This beautiful exhibition is closes this Sunday, so be sure to take a peek. Have a lovely weekend everyone. xo

As lovely as it is to travel and go away I always find that I miss home so much more than I expect, even though Ben and I love to travel and explore the world (which we plan on doing more and more of soon!) we really are homebodies at heart and love the feeling that we get when we do come home. That said, going away always means having to play catch up with house work and endless loads of washing, which of course is never fun! We renovated out laundry along side our bathroom at the start of the year (which I’m still to share) I’ve always found laundry’s really beautiful little spaces to do up, they can be a little softer or bolder than the rest of your home – so in salut to the never ending amount of washing I’ve been tacking this week. Here is a little winter laundry inspiration for you to make your laundry a little more fun, of course Pinterest is an amazing place to collect revocation or style ideas – you can take a peek here for a little more of what inspired our bathroom and laundry renovation. I hope everyone has a lovely day planned today, my very good friend Sophie from Cake Pop Kitchen and I are off on a little day trip today to do a little research for a very new and exciting section of my new blog! I can’t wait to share. x

After a crazy few weeks of flying between Rarotonga, Brisbane twice and back again it’s so lovely to be home and to settle back into the groove of things. Again I have to thank you all so much for your generous and loving support towards Gem and her family, they’re beyond honoured by your kindness.

So I thought I’d share one of the most beautiful homes that I’ve stumbled upon in a while – a truly perfect mix of crisp white walls, blonde wood floors and furniture, the most stunning all white marble kitchen and of course the most beautiful pops of bright art and pastel furniture to add colour to this gorgeous home. I think over the years I’ve finally found ‘my style’ for our home decor, I’ve always been drawn to white, blond wood, pastel and bright pops of colour – to me it’s a truly perfect combination as it’s a pallet you can easily add or remove new pieces to easily. I’ve no doubt this beautiful home will spark a little home decor inspiration for you! x

There are truly no words to describe how incredibly thankful I am for all of your generosity, support and love towards Gem, Nath, Coco Darling and their family – they are so grateful and humbled by your love. In tragic and heart breaking moments like this you feel terribly helpless, if you wish to help Gem and Nath through this time please have a look at this post for more details. The generosity has been beyond what I ever imagined would come of this, all I can do is thank you with all of my heart!

I shared on my Instagram account this afternoon a little of what I was up to – my ‘therapy’ has always been to bake and adapting old recipes, I find baking so calming and it always add’s a little comfort to dark and cold winter days. And as promised, here is the delicious recipe I adapted from a 1978 edition of The Australian and New Zealand Family Cookbook that my Grandma so kindly handed down to me. I wanted to add a modern and warm touch to the classic chocolate chip cookie, the end result is a perfect batch of Dark Chocolate Chip Cookies, with a twist of orange zest and delicate spices – which turns out to be a perfect combination of flavours. These cookies are so simple to make and are a delicious treat for a cold winters evening, I’d love to know what you think. x

Coco Darling

My heart is beyond broken today – a dear friend of mine Gem from Blackbird shared her families heartbreaking loss of their baby girl Cocoo Darling on her blog today. For those who have the honour to know and work along side Gem and for those who follow her truly stunning blog and instagram will know how incredibly talented, kind, loving and exceptionally strong she is.

What her family has had to deal with over the past 32weeks is unimaginable and something no one should ever know the pain of. Gem so beautifully writes about their love for Coco Darling, and from that has had a truly heartwarming response by so many people who have poured their love, prayers and thoughts towards a family going through something so unfair. For those who have suffered the tragic loss of a baby, will know how raw and unfair this pain is. It’s unthinkable grief.

I know that we can’t solve Gem and Nath’s heartache, but what we can do help them. They have an awfully painful road ahead of them, but what they do have is a new home and if there is anything that anyone is able to help with I know it would be greatly appreciated. I’ve set up an bank account for Coco Darling, that I will hand over to Gem and Nath, I understand that money, gifts, thoughts, prayers and love will sadly never bring her back, but Gem and Nath more than ever need our support! No matter how big or small your donation, every little bit will truly help them, this is to make their lives as easy as possible while they heal and to remember Coco Darling. I know that Gem would never ask for help like this, so if this slice of the internet that we have all created through blogging, online shops, weddings, retail shops, cafes and social media can help Gem, Nath and their family in any way then we have done our job.

I’m going to leave this post up for a few days. In honour of this beautiful life, please share the above image across your social media accounts to your friends, family and any bloggers and businesses that you know, with the hashtag #cocodarling, mention and send your love to Gem and Nath at Blackbird and link back to this post, to help this beautiful family in their darkest of hours.

For Coco Darling, you are so loved!

With the wedding season almost at a close, stylists and photographers have a little more time to create and share beautiful style shoots, I love it as it’s a lovely way to see their work in the very best light. It’s also a perfect time for brides to be to gather ideas for their upcoming weddings in the new year. I’m terribly honoured to share this beautiful Geometric Styled Shoot that was perfectly styled by Jess from Two Foxes and beautifully photographed by my amazing friend Coralee Stone. I love the minimalistic blonde wood and all white table setting with touches of bright pastels and lush succulents its beyond perfect – and of course the truly stunning lace Rue De Seine dress pared with a giant protea bouquet is to die for! Be sure to take a peek at here to see the rest of this beautiful shoot.

It’s so lovely to be home after a truly blissful and much needed week away in Rarotonga last week. Ben and I have never been to the Cook Islands before so after the enormous stresses of the part two years a little pre-winter getaway was the perfect excuse for us to spend relaxing week creating new memories in paradise. The water is crystal clear and full of beautiful coral and tropical fish, the roads buzz with a quite hum of scooters and the tropical forest high in the mountains are a perfect centre piece to this truly magical place – it’s one of those places where everywhere you look truly is a postcard. It’s also one of the first holidays we’ve ever come back from without many stories as we truly did nothing, as our week at the picturesque Little Polynesian Resort was filled with reading, sleeping, drinking cocktails, swimming and eating, it was complete heaven and I’d go back in a second. I’d love to hear of where you’ve travelled to lately or if you have any travel plans coming up this year or next. xo

One of my favourite parts about a wedding, party or special occasion, apart from the event its self of course, is shopping for the perfect gift. It’s just so much fun being able to find the perfect gift for someone and giving them something that they will hold dear for years to come – and of course if they’ve already set up a gift registry you know you’ll get them something they love! When Ben and I got married in 2010 there annoyingly weren’t many gift registries available to us, I think we ended up having three over various stores as there wasn’t one store that offered a wide range of options – it was ridiculously frustrating and I think we ended up setting up our own as Ben wanted to add a few of his own choices to the list. Not just linen and kitchenware.

Fast forward to 2014 where the incredibly clever Georgina and Sarah have created the most perfect one stop shop for any gift giving, or receiving, occasions – their truly stunning online gift registry The Lovely Registry! The idea is incredibly simple, you can create a personalised gift registry for any event you choose, be it a wedding, baby shower or birthday, and the best part, you can mix and match from local designers to international products, speaker systems for him and beautiful homewares for her – how perfect is that?! It’s truly a genius idea and I wish this was around when we got married. So I thought I’d share a few of my favourite items from The Lovely Registry, their selection of gifts are so beautiful and I couldn’t think of a better place to create your dream wish list for your upcoming wedding or celebration.
