winter-style-roundup Despite the blustery wind, rain and cold that comes with winter, one of the best parts about the cooler seasons is the clothing! I’ve never been a fan of the cold, but I am a fan of winter clothing and absolutely adore layering beautiful winter jackets, scarfs, jumpers and accessorising with bold jewels, lipstick and of course a stunning pair of boots to make up for dreary winter days. Here are a few of my favourite cozy yet stylish looks and items to help get you through the blustery winter weather we’re having at the moment – or of course on seconds thoughts, curling up inside under a heavy knit throw with a good book and warm cup of tea is just as perfect this time of year. x

With the days getting shorter and colder it’s such a lovely time curl up inside and not feel bad about it at all – one of my favourite things to do during winter is to take myself to bed a little earlier than normal and curl up with a good book and delicious cup of tea. It always feels so indulgent. I’ve always had a deep love for beautiful bedding, it’s always been something that I’ve spent a little more on as I know that it will last and continue to get better with age – which was why I squealed with delight when I found out that Claudia from Indie Home Collective is now stocking the most beautiful Bedouin Societe linen bedding designed by Virginia Feldtman. To add a little more luxe to this already stunning collection – the linen used for their bedding is sourced from regions in Northern France, how divine is that? Not only is the bedding beyond soft to touch, it will last, get better with age and of course the pallet of neutral tones and pastels make for a perfect centrepiece to a French country inspired bedroom. If you haven’t had a chance to visit Indie Home Collective yet, make this the reason, I’ve no doubt you’ll fall madly in love with how Claudia has styled her beautiful shop. Happy lazy winter days everyone. x

The cooler months in New Zealand means that the wedding season is always a little slower, which is the perfect time for brides to be to plan for their upcoming summer weddings as vendors have more time to help plan your special day. I’m so honoured to share the upcoming Queenstown Wedding Fair that the very lovely and talented Sophia from NZ Wedding Fairs has organised – I truly wish there was something like this when we were planning our wedding in 2004, it would have made sourcing ideas and vendors a breeze. To all the beautiful brides and dapper grooms-to-be in and around Queenstown this truly is the wedding event of the year, and one not to be missed. Be sure to take a peek at NZ Wedding Fairs for more information about this wonderful event that’s being held in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. x

With the wedding season almost at a close, stylists and photographers have a little more time to create and share beautiful style shoots, I love it as it’s a lovely way to see their work in the very best light. It’s also a perfect time for brides to be to gather ideas for their upcoming weddings in the new year. I’m terribly honoured to share this beautiful Geometric Styled Shoot that was perfectly styled by Jess from Two Foxes and beautifully photographed by my amazing friend Coralee Stone. I love the minimalistic blonde wood and all white table setting with touches of bright pastels and lush succulents its beyond perfect – and of course the truly stunning lace Rue De Seine dress pared with a giant protea bouquet is to die for! Be sure to take a peek at here to see the rest of this beautiful shoot.

Happy Monday everyone, I hope you all had a lovely weekend. Mine was spent inside with my poor hubby who’s been battling a terribly cold, relaxing and doing a little baking. Those who have been generous enough to follow Made From Scratch over the years will know that I have a deep love for baking, I find it enormously relaxing and of course there really is nothing like filling your home with the smell of baking, and then sharing it with loved ones, it’s just divine.

You may have also noticed that my hubby and I are doing the Fit24 Challenge this month – which is eeek, all about lowing the amount of sugar that you eat. It was not at all easy for me to cut back the amount of sugar that I eat, for me the hardest part was going out for dinners or having people over. I love the social aspect around dessert, sharing a delicious slice of cake with friends while out for coffee or dinner, or gossiping over cookies straight from the oven is complete bliss for me. I oddly didn’t get massive cravings or headaches, I just wanted to go out with friends and have dessert. Annoyingly, after 16 days of sugar free living I feel really good, my skin has cleared up, I’m more alert and just generally in a happier mood. Bummer huh! So I thought that seeing as I’m trying this whole sugar free living out for a month I would share a delicious and simple sugar free Chocolate and Almond Cookie recipe that is sure to beat any cravings you may have. Also the wonderfully generous folk from Naturals Sugar have kindly gotten on board with my challenge and are giving one lucky reader their entire range of Naturals Sugar as well as a set of beautiful Bodum Pavina Double Wall Thermo Glasses, how lovely is that! I’d love to know if you have any sugar free baking recipes, it would be so wonderful to try a few more. xo
