Ben here! I’m taking over Rachael’s blog again so that I can say Happy Birthday! to my beautiful wife and give her a day away from blogging. When I did one of these posts 3 years ago her blog was just starting out and she had no idea what it was all about, I didn’t even know if I’d do another one of these birthday posts. But time went by as it has a tendency to do and 3 years later we’re here in our beautiful new home (all Rach) with our little dog Kora and Rach is doing her blogging full time. It’s been an amazing journey and I am constantly amazed and proud of what she has created with her little slice of the internet.
Thank you for reading, commenting and emailing. Rach is constantly amazed that you all do and she really does reply to everything that gets sent to her so please get in touch and say Happy Birthday!
Ben
P.S Because Rach is ridiculously nice she’s doing a giveaway on Instagram and Facebook today, so find her and enter that!
Last night while Ben was at the radio show, I went over to my Mama’s house for dinner. Mum cooked delicious and soul warming Gnocchi with Almond & Lemon Pesto and I baked the muffins for dessert. I never thought that a little muffin could spark so much dinner conversation though, Mum and I think the recipe needs less raspberries, Geoff wants more chocolate and Ben want’s them to be about 3 times bigger than they are! This is one recipe that might be making a reapperace on the blog while I perfect it – I hope you don’t mind. x

Hello everyone, I hope you are having a gorgeous week so far. I thought I would share with you today a little of what Ben and I have been up to lately, we have been busy really busy! I am often asked what I do beside the blogging and how I fit everything in, to be honest I have no idea how everything manages to work but somehow it does. Up until today I have been working 2 jobs, office admin/event organization, nannying plus the blog, Ben works full time while completing his MBA part time and hosting a radio show every Tuesday night – phew. So today is my last day of nannying as there have been quite a few very exciting doors opening my way with the blog and a few other things. I am so excited to say that I will have a little more time to play catch up with our lives, blog, create, bake and show you what we have been doing around the house – I would love to hear from you if you have anything you would like to see on the blog, or if you have something to share you can submit your work here, I would love to see what you are all creating. x

Phew, what an amazingly busy weekend we have had, first off I have to thank two very talented people, who without their hard work this simply wouldn’t have happened! Everything new that you see here, has been lovingly designed and thought out by my incredibly beautiful and talented sister in law Lucy Olive {you simply must have a look at her gorgeous blog here} and my computer savvy hubby Ben who ‘rebuilt’ everything and very patiently worked with every request that Lucy and I threw at him. You are both increible and I honestly don’t have the words to thank you enough!
So onto the the blog, which has had a little upgrade, its been a work in progress for the last couple of weeks and it has been an almost impossible secret to keep. I am beyond thrilled to be able to show you the new look for Made From Scratch, as you can see there have been a few big changes a swish new logo, 5 simple categories and a good old fashion clean out. My main goal of this re-branding task, was to make it as easy as possible for you to find your favorite recipe, wedding, diy idea or home decor inspiration, this is all set out nicely within in each category and subcategory so there is now no longer a need to ‘search’. There is also very exciting addition to introduce, the submission page, this is where the Made From Scratch world will be able to grow with you. I can’t think of anything better than showcasing something special that you have created, a wedding or party you have attended or photographed or something delicious you have baked I am very excited to see what wonderful things start trickling though! So enough of the chit chit, curl up with a lovely warm cup of tea and have a browse through the new layout and design of Made From Scratch. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do. x
I have to apologize profusely for the lack of posts this week, things have been rather insane around here. But I promise it will be worth the absence very soon, I am so excited to share with you what we have been working on and I really hope that you will like it. I’m also running around a little crazy this morning organizing a whole bunch of surprises for Ben’s Birthday tomorrow, which also happens to be St. Patricks Day {probably the coolest day for a birthday}! If you are in need for a little green charm for tomorrow, these gorgeous free printables from One Charming Party would be perfect! I’d love to know what your plans are for this ridiculously fun holiday, our weekend is planing on being pretty big which I’m really excited about. I also have a very special post planned for tomorrow, so make sure you keen an eye out. x
Hello everyone, I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I had the best weekend, it started with my birthday on Friday where Ben hijacked my blog and did a very special birthday post for me. I was flooded with so many lovely Birthday wishes, thank you all so much you are all far too kind! Ben spoilt me by taking me to the loviest tea shop, oh my its just gorgeous, so much so that I will tell you more in another post! We then caught up with some friends for a BBQ then the following night my gorgeous family took me out for the most delicious dinner, no one spoke to each other when we were eating it was that good! It was the perfect way to spend a weekend, I also made some homemade muesli while pottering around, its the easiest thing in the world to make and so so tasty! I’d love to know what you got up to over the weekend, I hope it was lovely and again thank you all so much for all the birthday wishes! x
Happy Friday everyone, I hope you’ve all had a lovely week and having something wonderful planned for the weekend. Ben is away for the weekend to do a running race around Taupo, so I am planning a very relaxing weekend full of pottering around the house and doing some gardening. Our poor little garden at the front of the house is in desperate need of some love, so hopefully by the end of the weekend it looks better, maybe not as pretty as Amy Borrell’s stunning garden drawing but I can dream. I’d love to know what you’re plans are for the weekend. x
I hope everyone had a lovely Valentines Day yesterday, I baked some heart shaped brownies and had a lovely lazy night in with Ben. For those of you who have followed Made From Scratch for a while, you’ll know that I love having people over for dinner. I also love the idea of always setting the dinner table properly before you eat, it has a magic ability to transform a simple meal into a special meal almost instantly. How beautiful is the table setting laid out by the lovely Nina from Stylizimo for a lunch guest she had recently, you would feel so special sitting down to something like this. x
