What Folk Eat

WFEpost

You may have noticed a little exciting news over on Instagram lately – there is a very exciting new foodie community that the truly amazing Bianca from Sunday Folk has just started. It’s called What Folk Eat and the idea behind this lovely venture is to create a community of people who love to bake, cook and share delicious recipes with others – it can be any type of recipe, from a personal favourite, one that has been handed down, or something deliciously new! Bianca has also added the most wonderful touch to this already beautiful idea, once you’ve register here to be apart of What Folk Eat and she will partner you up with another foodie where you will then exchange parcels along with the recipe and anything else food related that you wish to send – anything from a cute cooking utensil to a beautiful tea towel. And then of course share your parcel and delicious new recipe on your Instagram account using the hashtag #whatfolkeat or blog.

I’m also beyond honoured to announce that I alongside the lovely Nia from Life & Co will be helping Bianca judge the recipes shared – for more information on this beautiful new community of people, be sure to take a peek at What Folk Eat to find out more, and of course sign up! We can’t wait to see all of your amazing recipes. x

Happy Monday everyone, even though it’s a little gloomy and rainy today after the most perfect summers weekend – that doesn’t mean that summer isn’t still still here, or that delicious summer drinks can’t be made up to cool down on a beautiful day. I’m so thrilled to be working alongside Tip Top Ice Cream again this year and am incredibly honoured to share my first recipe of 2014. With more beautiful summer days to come I couldn’t think of anything more perfect than whipping up a few delicious, incredibly refreshing and oh so easy Tropical Summer Crush –  with the long weekend coming up I’ve a feeling this delicious drink will quickly become a staple in your home this summer. x

Happy Monday everyone, I hope you all had a lovely weekend. We had the most wonderful weekend celebrating the end of Ben’s MBA with all our friends and family – it was the perfect way to end a very busy year, thank you so so much to everyone for your well wishes and of course those who celebrated with us, it really was a fantastic weekend!

You may have noticed lately that I’ve become a little obsessed with strawberries – in my mind they’re the king of summer berries, they’re just so delicious and of course can be made into everything from tarts, puddings and various ice cream treats. I’ve been wanting to whip up a batch of strawberry jam for a while now so last week on a rainy summers afternoon I made the most perfect batch of strawberry and vanilla jam. If you’ve never made jam before wonderfully easy, you can experiment with different flavours of fruit low in pectin that you like and of course an afternoon of jam making will leave your home smelling absolutely stunning, plus a few delicious jars of homemade strawberry jam would make such a lovely Christmas gift this year. x

Milo Cupcakes

I’ve no doubt that everyone who grew up in Australia and New Zealand has a bit of a soft spot for Milo – it’s just so good and is of course perfect with milk, amazing with milkshakes, absolutely incredible on top of vanilla ice cream plus it also bakes perfectly into the most delicious cupcakes! I couldn’t remember the last time that I’d made cupcakes so I simply had to whip up a batch with some pretty cupcake wrappers and I thought what would be more perfect than combining cupcakes with that familiar and wonderfully nostalgic taste of Milo – these cupcakes have the most wonderful hit of malt chocolate goodness and of course go perfectly with vanilla buttercream and a little Milo sprinkled on top. If you’re a fan you simply must try this recipe, it’s delicious. x

Cherry and Coconut Slice Those who have been following Made From Scratch for a while will know that I’m a little bit of a fan of Donna Hay, her work really is so amazing and I’m yet to find a recipe of hers that I don’t adore. Her delicious Cherry, Raspberry and Coconut Slice is one of those and I promise that once you make it yourself you’ll continue to bake it over and over again – it really is that amazing! So when my wonderful hubby asked me if I could make something pink for a morning tea that he’s having at work tomorrow to help raise funds for Breast Cancer I knew this recipe would be absolutely perfect for him to share with his workmates. Of course with most recipes that I make I change them while I go, be sure to take a peek at my delicious adaption of Donna Hay’s stunning slice. x
