Oh my, it’s so so lovely to be back – I’ve really missed you all, our fluffy puppy and blogging each day it so strange not doing it each day! Although in saying that my hubby and I had the most wonderful time in Sydney last week – he was there for work and I was lucky enough to tag along to do a little shopping and catch up and meet some incredibly amazing people. Like catching up with the wonderful Kate Robinson at the Donna Hay (where naturally quite a bit of shopping was done!) general store before brunch as Bills and meeting insanely lovely and gorgeous Mia from Mia Loves Pretty at the delicious Grounds of Alexandria for lunch – beyond perfect! As well as of course shopping and catching up with lovely people my hubby and I wandered around this gorgeous city taking in all of the beautiful sites that it has to offer – it really is such a wonderful city! So since returning from our week away being a tourists in Sydney. I now want to explore Auckland a little more like a tourist, I think there is something wonderful about trying to see the city that you live in through a tourists eyes! I hope you’ve all had a wonderful week so far, I’d love to hear what you’ve been up to – oh and I’ve started my baking classes again, be sure to have a peek here! xo

Ben here! I’m taking over Rachael’s blog again so that I can say Happy Birthday! to my beautiful wife and give her a day away from blogging. When I did one of these posts 3 years ago her blog was just starting out and she had no idea what it was all about, I didn’t even know if I’d do another one of these birthday posts. But time went by as it has a tendency to do and 3 years later we’re here in our beautiful new home (all Rach) with our little dog Kora and Rach is doing her blogging full time. It’s been an amazing journey and I am constantly amazed and proud of what she has created with her little slice of the internet.
Thank you for reading, commenting and emailing. Rach is constantly amazed that you all do and she really does reply to everything that gets sent to her so please get in touch and say Happy Birthday!
Ben
P.S Because Rach is ridiculously nice she’s doing a giveaway on Instagram and Facebook today, so find her and enter that!

One of the things that I adore about blogging is getting to meet and become friends with so many wonderful people – Julia from Studio Home is one of those enormously talented ladies with a killer eye for style! I’ve been following her blog for a few years and have had the absolute pleasure of meeting her in person since she moved up from Wanaka not long ago to expand on her gorgeous blog! Julia came over to our home for a little visit during to week to have a peek at our newly renovated home, chat over a little baking and cuddles with Kora – it was the best way to spend a lovely sunny afternoon. You can read all about our catch up on her beautiful blog here – you might want to curl up with a cool summer drink though, she has so many incredible posts to admire! x

Today our adorable little cavoodle puppy turns one! She is by far the sweetest, fluffy puppy and we absolutely adore her, for those who have been following Made From Scratch for a while probably remember how little she was when Ben surprised me with her on Christmas Eve last year! I was going to make her a puppy cake to celebrate, but we thought that new toys and smelly bones were a much better idea – she’s now protectively hiding in the back yard with her new treats! I thought that I would share a few little cute things about Kora and what we adore about her so much!
- She loves chasing shadows, she will spend hours pouncing around the back yard like a little sheep
- She’s enormously protective of her teddy and will.not.let anyone near her when she wants it
- She’s ridicously quick when it comes to chasing her ball at the park!
- She gives the best cuddles ever, she will hold on to you around your neck and stay there for so long, I adore it!
- Every night, we say “bed time Kora” and she grabs teddy and wanders into her room and goes to bed, it melts our heart every time!
Happy Birthday Kora, you’re sometimes just far too cute for words!

Oh my, the 21st of July 2012 was the most amazing afternoon, it was my very first baking class for Made From Scratch. I was so honoured to teach six very lovely ladies how to make red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese icing, brownies and lemon curd from scratch. We had a wonderful afternoon of drinking tea, nibbling on teaspoon cookies, baking, chatting, decorating our cupcakes and of course enjoying our spoils at the end. My main goal for these classes is to be able to share with you my passion for baking, show you how to make delicious home made treats for your family but also bend the rules a little – who says a baking class can’t be a beautiful afternoon tea with flowers, bunting and little goodie bags to take home? I have been completely blown away by all the support that I have had for these classes – thank you so much Ellie from Jel Photography who took the stunning photos and video that you see, my beautiful Mum thank you so much for keeping the kitchen and Kora in order you were a life saver, the lovely Lucy Olive who designed the sweet recipe cards, my blog and for everything else that you have ever done for me! And of course the gorgeous ladies who attended to the class, without you this wouldn’t have been possible and I hope that you enjoyed it as much as I did! I can’t wait to release the dates for the next classes, but for now enjoy the photos from the first. x

Happy Friday everyone, phew what a wonderfully busy week this has been, I have so many amazing things coming up that I can’t wait to share with you all! I have been throwing around ideas for a little office space since we moved into our home last year. Everything from turning one of our spare rooms into a office, to using the dinning room, in the end I worked from the couch – now as comfortable as that is, it just wasn’t very practical. I also don’t need a lovely spacious desk and I love being able to sit in the lounge room with my hubby while he watches movies – it’s when I get the most work done and it’s how we relax at the end of a day. So thats how I ended up with a sweet little desk in the living room, I am rather smitten with it! I hope everyone has a very lovely weekend planned, I’d love to hear your plans. x

Hello everyone I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I had a fantastic weekend meeting and catching up with some very lovely people, going to craft markets, baking, trying my first cake pop, catching up on sleep and taking Kora for lots of walks while Ben was running around Auckland as part of the 48 hour film festival. One of the things I baked over the weekend is this very simple and delicious lemon loaf, if you are a fan of lemon you will love this. It’s so lemony you could almost do without the sweet lemon drizzle, it would go perfectly with a warm cup of tea on a chilly winters afternoon. x
