pasta

I hope everyone is having a lovely day so far, at the start of the week I got a shiny new kitchen appliance  - the very cute yet incredibly powerful KitchenAid Artisan Food Chopper! I’ve been running around all day so wanted to make a really quick yet tasty lunch, and of course take my lovely new food chopper for a little spin. I whipped up the most delicious breaded sundried tomato pesto pasta – it’s a fantastic recipe as you can of course make as much or as little of it as you like. I can’t wait to make more delicious pestos, sauces and tasty treats with the food chopper, all of which I will share – I’d love to hear of any recipe suggestions. x

Last night while Ben was at the radio show, I went over to my Mama’s house for dinner. Mum cooked delicious and soul warming Gnocchi with Almond & Lemon Pesto and I baked the muffins for dessert. I never thought that a little muffin could spark so much dinner conversation though, Mum and I think the recipe needs less raspberries, Geoff wants more chocolate and Ben want’s them to be about 3 times bigger than they are! This is one recipe that might be making a reapperace on the blog while I perfect it – I hope you don’t mind. x

I love discovering new blogs, I hope your ready to sit for a while as this delicious and beautifully honest blog Not Without Salt written by the oh so talented Ashley who is also a mama to three incredibly gorgeous kiddies will become your new obsession. I found it a few days a go and have probably read every single post she’s written this year, naturally I find all of her baking incredibly tempting and I’ve already got a few recipes on the ‘must make now’ list, but I also adore her approach to cooking as everything is “simple, classic, and nutritious” just as it should be, I hope you enjoy her blog as much as I am. xx

Its rather nice when its just Mum and I home for dinner, we both love our pasta but our lovely men don’t as much. Mum has made this pasta dish for as long as I can remember and its always so deliciously bad for you! It’s certainly a dish that you only have on rather special occasions or cold rainy days like today. x

No matter how good a cook you or your partner may be, Mum will always be better at her signature dish. My Mum’s lasagna is incredible, there is honestly nothing better than pottering in the kitchen with her helping make such a simple and oh so delicious meal that everyone loves. What’s your favourite dish that your gorgeous Mum makes?

We have a rather small kitchen, but its full! I’ve always needed to have some sort of order, some of our wedding presents were storage containers and they are perfect for flours, sugar, pasta, rice, spices, tea and anything else that you use daily, including that yummy cake you made! Here are some lovely containers from Typhoon, Jamie Oliver, Nigella Lawson and Kitchen Craft to help you with your kitchen storage.

It’s another one of these nights that I give the amazing Rach a break and cook up something that she enjoys. Tonight it was pasta which is not my favourite food but dead easy to make, cheaper than chips, and a food that Rach doesn’t get to eat nearly enough of with me around.

I stol… borrowed this recipe from one of Rach’s bookmarks Bellalimento and made a couple of simple changes just to enhance the flavour a bit. Rach enjoyed it, and for someone who doesn’t really like pasta I didn’t mind it either. It’s a lite meal and just like most of my cooking requires very little effort. It’s also vegetarian which is not normal in this house but certainly enjoyable (only sometimes).
