With Spring well and truly here I’ve been craving beautiful bright pops of colour, delicate pastels, neutrals and touches of gold – Spring really is such a wonderful time of the year where you’re able to shake off the darker hues and layers from Winter and enjoy that sun kissed feeling that the warmer weather brings. Here are a few of my favourite Spring finds to brighten your day, or of course add to your wish list for Christmas – I can’t wait for all of the Spring and Summer festivities to begin, I’ve a feeling it’s going to be the best Summer yet! x
Those who have been following Made From Scratch for a while will know that I’m a little bit of a fan of Donna Hay, her work really is so amazing and I’m yet to find a recipe of hers that I don’t adore. Her delicious Cherry, Raspberry and Coconut Slice is one of those and I promise that once you make it yourself you’ll continue to bake it over and over again – it really is that amazing! So when my wonderful hubby asked me if I could make something pink for a morning tea that he’s having at work tomorrow to help raise funds for Breast Cancer I knew this recipe would be absolutely perfect for him to share with his workmates. Of course with most recipes that I make I change them while I go, be sure to take a peek at my delicious adaption of Donna Hay’s stunning slice. x

There really is something so incredibly magical about Spring, especially getting to enjoy the fleeting season of beautiful Cherry Blossoms. My gorgeous hubby, Kora and I spent a lazy Saturday morning wandering around the gorgeous Auckland Botanic Gardens - I love going to the gardens, they’re always so inspiring and you come home wanting to dig up your back yard asap and have flower beds everywhere! We fell madly in love with the absolutely stunning Spring Blossom Valley, there really are no words to describe just how magical it is seeing these blooms. If you’re looking for something to do on a lazy Spring day, I couldn’t recommend wandering around the Botanic Gardens enough, it really is the perfect start to any weekend. x

Happy Monday everyone, I hope you all had a truly wonderful weekend and we’re able to spoil your amazing Dad rotten for Fathers Day yesterday! My Dad has a huge soft spot for anything vanilla, vanilla ice cream, cheesecake, cake, fudge you name it it’s always been his go to – I also get the most lovely emails from him most day’s that are either to do with blogging, what’s happening in the world or delicious recipes that he’s stumbled upon and would like me to bake. I fell head over heels in love with peonies before our wedding and simply had to have them along side ranunculus in my bouquets – they really are the most beautiful flower and I’m yet to meet someone who doesn’t adore them! I stumbled upon this really lovely interview on Kinfolk that shared some tips for growing your own peonies, which for anyone who loves to potter in the garden would find really helpful – plus their peony nursery is far too amazing for words! I’m itching with excitement for the weather and soil to warm up a little so I can get back into the garden and make a beautiful flower bed, and of course to see how the few peonies and ranunculus bulbs that I planted at the start of winter are going. I’d love to hear of any tips and tricks that you might have to growing these beautiful flowers, I can’t wait to have a whole garden bed full of them! x

Happy Monday everyone, I hope you all had a really lovely relaxing weekend. I spent a lot of the weekend pottering in the kitchen whipping up lots of goodies for a beautiful afternoon tea party that the hugely talented Mel from All the Frills hosted and styled for 6 very lovely ladies. I can’t wait to show you all the photos from the tea party, everything really was far too perfect for words! I can however share a sneak peek of it and of course the delicious Vanilla Bean and Lemon Curd Layer Cake that I made – it’s such a lovely cake and the perfect chance to use the last of the delicious winter lemons before we head into spring. x
