Happy Friday everyone, I hope you have had a wonderful week. The weather has really cooled down over the last few weeks, it’s the perfect time to catch up on some knitting {or if you’re like me, learn!} and curl up with a warm bowl of soup. I adore all of the wonderful colors of wool and patterns that Wool & Gang have, no doubt you will find something deliciously warm to add to your winter wardrobe. x

Phew what a busy weekend Ben and I had, amongst me coming down with a pretty horrid head cold, we started and finished digging out all the holes and a good part of our back yard needed for our new deck-to-be. I have really been enjoying this month as each day I have been doing something different as part of the April Challenge you can follow me here and here, but seeing as it is now half way through April I thought I should show you what I have been up to.

I want to thank everyone for all their sweet messages for Kora yesterday on Facebook after her operation, she was very groggy and sore last night but we woke to a bouncy happy pup, we are thrilled and so surprised at how well she is doing. So too all my gorgeous readers, from Friday night to Monday morning you won’t be able to read Made From Scratch. I can’t wait to show you how its turned out, we are really thrilled that the laundry is almost done. It means all the inside renovations are almost finished and the sorting and tidying up will begin! For those who are planning a weekend of pottering {or have something special planned} this very easy Chocolate & Vanilla Layer Cake would be perfect, I made it last week before my birthday it has just the right amount of chocolate and vanilla. As strange as it sounds, I’m not really a fan of the traditional Christmas fruit cake, dont get me wrong they are amazing but just not for me ~ I was always the one that would pull of the fondant icing and throw away the cake. My Mum threw an amazing pre-Christmas party on the weekend as asked me to bake some cupcakes, so I thought a rich vanilla cupcake with the warmth of cinnamon would be perfect, and acording to all the guests it was! If your not a fan of the richness of Christmas cakes, but want something just as special and delicious, this might be perfect for you. And whats great about this recipe is it can be made into a whole cake or cupcakes, the choice is yours really!

Also you may have saw on my Facebook page yesterday – I had a lovely little chat to Sarah from The New Zealand Herald about the most Googled foods of 2011. You can read the full story here. x
