cozy bedroom essentials | Made From Scratch

Oh, Autumn really is starting to settle in, the days are getting shorter, cooler and the rain has finally arrived. It’s that time of the year when you start to pull out your winter goodies from storage to set yourself up for winter, or treat yourself to something new and cozy – like a gorgeous pair of moccasin slippers, aren’t they divine!! I adore this time of the year where your bedroom becomes a little more cozy and you don’t feel bad for spending a few lazy hours curled up in bed reading a good book over the weekend while a scented candle lights the room. x

Oh goodness, is there anything more wonderful than a vanilla layer cake with delicious poppy seed specks? I made this lovely cake as part of the New Zealand Weddings shoot that I did a while ago, I love how rustic yet classic it is – perfect! I hope that everyone had a fantastic long weekend, how perfect was the weather?! I’d love to hear what you got up to – we had a lovely lazy weekend full of friends, bbq’s and lots of Spring cleaning. xo

Happy Monday everyone, I hope you all had a lovely relaxing weekend I’d love to hear what you got up to. I’m so excited to show you the final part of the Neutral Styled Shoot that I did with Coralee, All the Frills and Toodles Noodles a couple weeks ago – the delicious dessert table and oh so sweet favors! We wanted everything to be as clean as possible and let the yummy baking and paper goods to bring the colour in, I love how simple everything is but effortlessly stunning and timeless at the same time. I hope that you enjoy this shoot as much as we did putting it together, I can’t wait to share all the yummy recipes for everything that you on the table, but until then be sure to have a look at part one and two if you missed them. x

Happy Monday everyone, I hope that you all had a truly glorious weekend – mine was filled with baking classes, catching up with friends over delicious lunches and relaxing with my hubby, bliss! I’m so excited to show off the ombre petal cake that I made for Sienna’s First Birthday a couple of weeks ago – this technique has been around for ages, I even found a tutorial for it printed in the 50′s, so it’s nothing new but it’s ridiculously pretty and very easy to make! I hope that you enjoy the petal cake as much as I do, it’s certainly one of my new favourite icing techniques, I can’t wait to release the dates for the petal classes! Have a lovely day everyone, you deserve it. x

Oh my, I am beyond honoured and so excited to be celebrating Made From Scratch’s second birthday! If someone had told me that I would be hosting baking classes and that I would have the privilege of knowing and working with so many amazing people then I wouldn’t’ have believed them in a million years. Nothing makes me happier than blogging, meeting and chatting with you all and of course the absolute honour of teaching baking classes. I don’t have the words to thank you for all your support over the last two years, each and everyone one of you mean the world to me. So I thought I would celebrate with a mini funfetti layer cake photographed by the wonderfully talented Ellie from Jel Photography, again thank you so much I can’t wait to see what the next two years brings. x
