Happy Monday everyone, I hope that you all had a wonderful weekend – how incredible has the weather been, so so summery and warm! We celebrated a friends birthday with a little friendly(ish) paintball fire, so much fun, and we all have a few battle wounds to show off. I find that while the weather is so warm it can be a little uninspiring to bake, but there is nothing like a lemon curd cupcake to make you persevere with the heat – plus they don’t take long to make which is wonderful! I’d love to hear what yummy things you’ve been baking during summer. x

Weekly Roundup 28th December
I adore the summer holidays, it’s the perfect time to relax, catch up with family and friends and of course take lots of afternoon naps after eating and drinking so much on Christmas Day! We had a lovely time away in Wellington, but it’s so so lovely to be back home and to potter around the house and garden while the weather is warm – hehe I’m kind of in love with our little veggie garden to be, I can’t wait to see how it grows over the summer months! I hope that everyone is having a wonderful break so far, I’d love to hear what you’ve been up to – but for now, enjoy this absolutely perfect summery Weekly Roundup from the wonderful Toodles Noodles. x

To all my readers in the southern hemisphere - Happy Summer everyone! As you may have read from my previous post – the weather here in Auckland has been a bit pants but as of tomorrow we’re supposed to experience sun for a whole week! I’m getting quite excited about the prospect of going to the beach, exploring waterfalls, going on walks – oh the possibilities!
Yesterday we went strawberry picking – my first time berry picking! I had such a blast even though it was a bit drizzly out and we left the fields with 4.2kg worth of delicious, ruby red strawberries! In hindsight that may have been a bit of overkill but we had a blast doing it and now have heaps of berries for our morning smoothies – win win!
So with all this excitement of summer I decided to make this weekly roundup a bright and colourful one! I hope you’re all having a great holiday!
1. Stunning single Marbella Hammock from Citta Design – want.
2. Beautiful packaging done by Curious Design for Phoenix Organic beverages – it just looks so refreshing!
3. I’ll take two margaritas please!
4. Protection from the sun is important down here – this stylish hat is available at Witchery.
5. You scream, I scream, we all scream for ice cream! This beautifully packaged organic ice cream picked up a silver award at the Best Awards this year.
6. You can’t beat a good beach towel – Country Road has a great range on sale now!
I sure do hope you are all enjoying some delicious sun and enjoying the holidays with those close to you! x
Yay we’re finally having some gorgeous Spring weather – but it’s still very much on the chilly side! I couldn’t think of anything better than turning on the oven to warm your home up and make a few yummy pies – especially if you turn it into a little dessert table and have people over for dinner for a ‘yay it’s Spring party’! How absolutely stunning is this dessert table – all the sweet treats that you see are made by the very lovely To Have and To Hold, the stunning photos by Sutherland Kovach and all the props, flowers and styling by the enormously talented Blush Flowers. I couldn’t think of a better excuse that to potter in the kitchen. x
I adore stumbling across beautiful new Etsy shops, it feels like you’ve discovered a little secret! Especially when they are as stunning a Home Sweet Home Design, each and every piece is lovingly hand made by the incredibly talented and oh so lovely Valerie – she learnt to crochet from her Mum and during a holiday break started creating all the beautiful pieces that you see! I absolutely adore everything that she makes, how sweet are the little crocheted bowls and garlands, even on the chillest night your home would feel so cozy! Be sure to scoot over and have a look at her darling online shop, I promise you won’t leave empty handed. xo
Oh my, I don’t have the words to thank you all enough for your incredibly lovely comments about the baking class, I am so overwhelmed thank you! Here is a lovely and easy banana bread recipe to get you through these chilly winter days that we’re having a that moment, it goes beautiful with warm caramel sauce and a warm cup of tea – I served slices of this at the baking class on Saturday and it was a huge hit!
I have also announced the date for my second baking class, it is Saturday the 4th of August from 11am – 2pm we will be covering the same recipes from the first for anyone that wasn’t able to attend, I will also be announcing more dates with other recipes shortly. There is a limit of 6 people per class, so be sure to get in quickly to secure a place. Email me at hello@madefromscratch.co.nz for more information. x

Oh my winter is well and truly here, the days are dark, gloomy and cold so it’s the perfect time to cook and bake winter meals to warm you up. The other night we had some very good friends over for a hearty winters meal followed by a not so traditional (but equally delicious) Gingerbread Sticky Toffee Pudding generously served with warm caramel sauce. It was the perfect way to end the meal and keep us toasty and warm on a cold winter’s night. x

Hello everyone I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I had a fantastic weekend meeting and catching up with some very lovely people, going to craft markets, baking, trying my first cake pop, catching up on sleep and taking Kora for lots of walks while Ben was running around Auckland as part of the 48 hour film festival. One of the things I baked over the weekend is this very simple and delicious lemon loaf, if you are a fan of lemon you will love this. It’s so lemony you could almost do without the sweet lemon drizzle, it would go perfectly with a warm cup of tea on a chilly winters afternoon. x
